PURPOSE:To improve smoothness between picture elements and processing stability at the time of a continuous processing by executing a coloring development processing by external coloring development so that developing silver can be more than 30% to the amount of exposed silver, and executing a processing not to practically include a whitening process after the coloring development process excepting for the final coloring development process. CONSTITUTION:The coloring development processing is executed so that the developing silver can be more than 30% to the amount of exposed silver, and the coloring development processing is executed by the external coloring development. After one coloring development process at least excepting for the final coloring development process, the processing not to practically include the whitening process is executed. For pattern exposure, a photomask 14 is arranged on a silver halide photosensitive material 13 equipped with an emulsion layer 12 exerting silver salt coloring matter whitening operation laminated on a light transmissive substrate 11 and the pattern exposure is executed by irradiating the photomask 14 with light from the upper side. Thus, a satisfactory picture can be obtained so that the smoothness between picture elements can be satisfactory, the processing stability in continuous processing can be improved and colors can not be muddy.
