Refractory elastomer paste - for coating inside walls of projectiles

Elastomer paste contains (a) a binder based on catalysed accelerated polychloroprene or carboxylated polybutadiene (b)10- 25 wt. % (a) of a refractory filler (silica, kaolin, asbestos, oxides) resisting erosion from combustion gas at 2800- 3400 degrees C (c) 30-80% of a reactive filler alcium oxalate or metallic carbonate) absorbing heat during decomposition (d) 0.5-2% of a thixotrope (hydrogenated castor oil). The paste can be extruded, and hardens without shrinkage to give a coating resistant to thermal erosion having good adhesion to propergol.
