<p>1338415 Cycloaliphatic polyepoxide; butadiene polymer compositions UNION CARBIDE CORP 18 Dec 1970 [19 Dec 1969 22 Dec 1969] 60273/70 Headings C3B and C3P A curable composition comprises at least one cycloaliphatic polyepoxide (I), a hardener (II) therefor in an amount of 40% of stoichiometric to 60% in excess of stoichiometric and a butadiene homopolymer or a butadiene/acrylonitrile copolymer each of which have an average of more than one terminal carboxyl or terminal mercapto group per molecule and being present in the composition at 5-250 parts by wt. per 100 parts by wt. of I. Examples of I are cycloaliphatic esters of dicarboxylic acids (III), e.g. bis - (3,4 - epoxycyclohexylmethyl) - oxalate, -adipate or -pimelate or 3,4-epoxycyclohexylmethyl - 3,4 - epoxycyclohexane carboxylates (IV). II may be a polyhydric phenol, a polybasic acid or an anhydride thereof. The butadiene polymer may have a molecular weight of 500 to 15000. A claimed and exemplified composition comprises a mixture of III and IV, a dimer of an unsaturated monobasic fatty acid, an anhydride of a polybasic acid, an alkaline earth metal silicate, a stannous acylate, a cation exchange bentonite and a butadiene homo- or copolymer as defined above. Uses.-Adhesives, laminates, mouldings, resinous "solders".</p> |
