Insolubilised glucose isomerase prepns - obtd. by absorbing on an ion exchange resin

The anion exchange resin should have porosity is not 4.5% as measured by aq. dextran soln. method and ion exchange capacity is not 0.035 meq/ml. resin, as measured by polyanion salt decompsn. method. Pref. a resin with >0.05 meq/ml. resin is used. Conditions of adsorption are pH 5.5-9.5, temp. between 0 and 60 degrees C and period between 2 and 18 hrs. Useful in fructose prodn. A large quantity of enzyme is carried and rate of appearance of activity is high. The quantity of the resin required for obtg. a definite quantity of fructose is small and space time yield is high. Furthermore, colouration and lowering of pH are decreased due to decrease of residence time of the reaction mixt.
