The narrow tank base is linked to the counter line and is fitted with bleed valve controlled by a float and valve rod within the separator. The valve rod (9) is pre-loaded in the closing sense by a closure spring. The float can move up and down independently of the valve rod between preset limits. The valve directly controls the smaller section bleed hole. The large section hole is controlled by a separate valve operated indirectly by the main valve. The seat surrounding the small hole is engaged with the valve as a function of flow in the transfer system. The valve rod moves between a fully spring-loaded down or closed position to a midway setting once the float weight has been removed.
