Modifying webs contg. polyester and cellulose fibres - by coating with alkaline soln. and reacting adsorbed esterification agent to esterify cellulose

Webs contg. cellulose fibres are modified by coating the webs with an alkaline soln. having a concn. of 2 - 6%, making the webs to adsorb an esterification agent corresp. to an amount of from 15 - 40% by wt. and exposing the webs to a reaction process in which the cellulose is esterified. The webes are suitable for reactive dyeing. Cellulose is converted quickly and continuously into a benzoyl or acetyl ester.
