PURPOSE:To enable regulation of gradation by a method wherein a delivery energy feed means is driven according to a delivery amount of ink changeable by a delivery amount changing means based on a lag time set through a delay means, and ink is flied through a delivery port. CONSTITUTION:A piezoelectric element 6 is energized, a meniscus 7 is moved forward in the direction of restoration at a very slight interval in a state that the meniscus 7 is moved backward and right after this state, and a volume V1 of ink located between a heat generating element 5 and a delivery port 3 is increased. When, with this state, the heat generating element 5 is applied, air bubbles 8 are generated, a large ink drops 4B are formed through expansion of the air bubbles 8, and produces flying ink drops 4B for recording in large dots. By properly controlling a time between drive of the piezoelectric element 6 and drive of the heat generating element 5, the delivery amount V1 of ink can be changed. This constitution not only provides gradation recording of high grade but also provides a picture of uniform quality by correction of unevenness in a picture. |
