The trough comprises three parts, the first being a metal U-shaped holder with top and bottom flanges. This is fixed in position by means of side slots engaging the vertical wires of the cage. The trough itself is plastic and is elongated with rounded ends. A top flange is provided each side to slide within the holder from outside the cage. Half of the trough remains outside the cage and is fitted with a cover to retain the water supply bottle, an aperture being provided to locate the bottle neck.
