Replacing single glazing with double glazing is carried out by means of a profile which comprises on one side a U-shaped section whose branches (1 and 2) tightly clamp the edge of the insulating panel and whose base (3) is extended by a strip (4) provided on its face opposite the branches (1 and 2) with grooves. The strip (4) is extended by a strip (5) placed at right angles. A remnant of the former window pane (V) is covered with putty. It can be seen that this remnant is entirely covered by the strip (5). The profile (3, 4, 5) is fastened to the upright by means of a small number of clips (6), fastened to the rabbet of the upright by means of screws or nails (7). The assembly procedure is very quick and consists of: - cutting the former window pane (V) flush with the frame (M), - fastening the clips (6), - positioning the profile by engaging the insulating panel (V1, V2) in the channel, by hooking the profiled strip on the portion of the frame (M) and by hooking the free ends of the clips in the grooves. <IMAGE>
