PURPOSE:To obtain the endoscope which is slender, is simple in construction and is nevertheless capable of radiating strong ultraviolet rays to the visual field by using the liquid light guide filled with the fluid which is highly transparent to ultraviolet rays. CONSTITUTION:A light guide 6 is provided with a flexible tubular body 18 which extends over its entire length. Both its ends are closed by the quartz stoppers 19 which are transparent to ultraviolet rays and liquid 20 which is highly transparent to ultraviolet rays is filled in its inside. The operate the endoscope, first an outside barrel 1 is inserted into the desired observation position, e.g., a box 9. Next, the lamp 14 of a light source device 11 is switched ON. Next, a switch 17 is operated by foot to rotate an ultraviolet filter 15 and let it go in and out from the path of the light beam. Then, if a suitable lamp 14 is used, switching from ultraviolet rays to visible light or vice versa may be readily accomplished rapidly with detaching the hand from the instrument. In this way, the strong ultraviolet rays may be radiated to the visual field. |
