PURPOSE:To facilitate installing, maintaining and changing an information apparatus by providing an installation along a road with an infrared ray transmitting apparatus and receiving navigation information from the infrared ray transmitting apparatus by a receiver loaded on an automobile. CONSTITUTION:The infrared ray transmitting apparatus 20 of an automobile navigation system 10 is installed on an electric pole, a traffic signal or the like along a road and, on the other hand, an infrared ray receiving apparatus 30 is loaded on an automobile. The control circuit 23 of the transmitting apparatus 20 reads identification codes Gi for navigation information Ni assigned to positions wherein the transmitting apparatuses 20 are installed from a memory 22 at a prescribed period to transmit the identification codes Gi as infrared ray signals SR. The control circuit 34 of the infrared ray receiving apparatus 30 decodes the identification codes Gi and notifies a driver of the navigation information Ni (for instance, the shortest route to a destination) by a notice device 33. |
