PURPOSE:To permit use even under severe conditions by a sensor wherein an insulative layer portion is previously formed on a thin-walled hollow oxygen concentration cell fabricated with a raw sheet method, this insulative layer portion is integrally fitted into the embossed portion bored in a metal thin plate having the rate of thermal expansion near that of the cell element by the use of soldering glass, and then it is welded to a supporting metal member. CONSTITUTION:An electrode (formed in plural number on both sides but only one electrode is shown in the figure by a black colored portion) is formed through printing on a raw sheet which contains solid electrolyte powder, a thermoplastic resin bonding agent and a platicizer. Two raw sheets thus obtained are bonded to each other, and an insulative material 2 such as Al2O3 is applied through screen printing on the side opposite to the electrdes locating abreast. Then, the entire is sintered to attain a thin- walled hollow oxygen concentration cell element 1. An embossed slit 3b is formed in a metal thin plate 3a made of kovar, etc. having the rate of thermal expansion near ZrO2, and the element 1 is inserted through the slit 3 so that the insulative layer 2 of the element 1 is bonded to the plate 3a with soldering glass 4. Thus obtained sensor is welded to a supporting metal member of high strength so as to endure sever use conditions which are necessitated in oxygen analysis for exhaust gas from automobiles. |
