PURPOSE:To improve an operating efficiency, by a method wherein precipitation is prevented from occurring through graphic display of density distribution in a pipe by means of a detecting signal from a density meter. CONSTITUTION:A density meter 1 consists of a plurality of r-radiation oscillator 4 and a receiver 5 which are located in a plurality of levels as against a horizontal installation part of a mud discharge pipe 6 to detect a density of mud at each level. Based on the signal from the density meter 1, from a density at each level and its position in the mud discharge pipe, a density distribution in the pipe is operated by an arithmetic unit 2. The operating result is graphically displayed in a CRT display device 3. In case a mud content is constant and a graph pattern is different, the monitoring device finds a difference in an earth quality. Thus, it is monitored whether or not the pattern approaches a precipitation limit in the pipe, which is known from an experience, and this prevents the occurrence of precipitation and allows to perform a high-efficiency operation. |
