In motor vehicles with air-cooled engines, the hot air for heating the passenger compartment is generated in exhaust gas heat exchangers and fed through channels to the outlet nozzles in the passenger compartment. An air conditioning unit for an air-cooled motor vehicle comprises in addition an evaporator for cooling the air which can be introduced into the passenger compartment and, just like the heated air, is guided to closable deicing, central and leg room nozzles. A housing with a mixing chamber is provided into which, on the one hand, hot air, fresh air and/or cooled air flows and out of which, on the other hand, the air streams to the deicing, central and leg room nozzles emerge. A partition wall is provided in the mixing chamber and decisively affects the distribution of the entering air streams to the outlet channels.
