A multifunctional, dismantlable exercise apparatus (10) for domestic use is completely self-aligning on assembly, easy to assemble and extremely strong and stable in the assembled state. The apparatus (12) has a base part (22) with a pair of vertical uprights (28) at the rear which extend to a connecting point (30). An upper, horizontal jib (32) extends forwards from this connecting point (30). At a distance from the rear uprights (28), posts (44, 46) are arranged between the base part (22) and the jib (32) and have a sliding guide (60) with a number of optionally engageable weights (54) which are slidingly displaceable thereon. A hand bar (18) is adjustably attached to the sliding guide (60) in order to displace the latter directly, and various wires (74, 76) and discs (36, 38, 40) serve to raise the sliding guide (60) indirectly, the various devices connected to the wires (74, 76) being actuated. The apparatus (12) also has a training bench (14) with a leg curler (16). <IMAGE>
