Process for the preparation of vinyl chloride from 1,2-dichloroethane in which the gaseous dichloroethane at the exit of the column is compressed at a pressure below 6 kg/cm<2>. It is sent into heat exchangers. The process has the advantage of saving more energy than the previous processes.
