Catalyst, especially for reforming, containing: a. an active phase based on at least one metal of the platinum group and b. a support based on at least one alumina which is obtained by carbonation of an alkali metal aluminate using a slight stoichiometric excess of CO2 in gaseous form, the carbonation temperature being between 25 and 60 DEG C, the precipitate obtained being then filtered and washed with water. i
