PURPOSE:To improve the watertightness of a protective coat and to make a printed surface mat by using a synthetic resin composition which is liq. under ordinary conditions and is cured under proper curing conditions as waterproof paint for forming a protective coat. CONSTITUTION:A continuous sheet 30 of printed photographs wound around a feeding roll 31 is transferred from the roll 31 to a winding roll 32 under tension. During the transfer, waterproof paint 34 contg. an ultraviolet-curing resin or the like is applied to the sheet 30 with an embossed roller 33 and cured with a drying and curing device 35. A synthetic resin composition which is liq. at ordinary conditions and is cured by heating or with ultraviolet rays, infrared rays or electron beams is used as the waterproof paint 34. An etched cylinder having an uneven surface formed by a photomechanical process or an engraved cylinder having an uneven surface formed by a mechanical engraving means is used as the embossed roller 33. The paint 34 is stuck to the roller 33, filled into surface recesses by scraping with a doctor blade 361, transferred and applied to the printed surfaces of the printed photographs. |
