PURPOSE:To obtain titled flame-retardant highly effective with only a small amount of application, thermally stable, with outstanding heat resistance, free from any odor and coloring, by reaction of a diglycidyl ether with a compound prepared by reaction between two sorts of halogen compounds. CONSTITUTION:The objective flame-retardant with a molecular weight of 900- 2,900, can be obtained by first carrying out a reaction between (A) a halogenated dihydroxyl compound of formula I (X is halogen; m and n are each 1-2; R1 is 1-4C alkylidene, or alkylene) and (B) a halogenated monoglycidyl ether of formula II (l is 1-3; R2 is H, or 1-4C alkyl) in a molar ratio (A)/(B) of 1/1-3, to prepare an intermediate with a molecular weight of 700-1,400, followed by further reaction of (C) a diglycidyl ether of formula II (o and p are each zero- 2; Q is zero-4; R3 is the same as R1) with the above intermediate in a molar ratio (A)/(C) of 1/0.1-1.0. |
