PURPOSE:To light a liquid crystal panel brightly from its back by providing an auxiliary reflecting plate surrounding a diffusion plate for back lighting. CONSTITUTION:When a panel part 6 is closed on a main body part 5, the liquid crystal panel 4 of the panel part 6 faces the back lighting diffusion plate 1 of the main body part 5 and light from a light source 3 is diffused by the diffusion plate 1 for back lighting to illuminate the back surface of the liquid crystal panel 4. When the panel part 6 is raised from the main body part 5, the light source 3 is turned off and the external light is reflected by the reflection surface of the main body part 5 to light the liquid crystal panel 4 of the panel part 6. The reflecting surface of the main body part 5 consists of the diffusion plate 1 for back lighting and the auxiliary reflecting plate 2 provided to its periphery of the diffusion plate 1. Consequently, a deficiency in the quantity of external light reflection of the diffusion plate 1 for back lighting is compensated. |
