PURPOSE:To enhance gas cracking performance in a gas cracker used with a photosemiconductor by providing a light reflective plate around a reaction chamber provided with both the photosemiconductor and a light source for applying light thereto. CONSTITUTION:A gas cracker consists of a photosemiconductor part 1 deposited with the photosemiconductor on a deposition plate, a light source (an ultraviolet lamp) 2, a reaction chamber 3, and a vessel 4. Furthermore a mirror 5 is provided to the inner surface of the vessel 4 as a light reflective plate. In this constitution, the light source 2 is lit and gas is introduced into the reaction chamber 3 while the photosemiconductor part 1 is irradiated with ultraviolet rays. Thereby gas is brought into contact with the photosemiconductor part 1 excited by irradiation of ultraviolet rays, and gas cracking is advanced. Light applied to only specified parts is again projected to the inside by providing the reflective plate 5, the area of the photosemiconductor part 1 in excited state is increased, and gas cracking reaction is promoted. Furthermore the deterioration of the vessel 4 made of plastic or the like is prevented because conversion of light into heat is decreased. |
