A squirrel-cage motor has a rotor which has a core 1 with a number of axially arranged rotor slots A1 - A9. Rotor conductors are arranged in the rotor slots. Between certain of these slots A1, A4, A7 and the surface of the rotor 1a radial slits B1, B4, B7 are arranged to control the rotor's leak inductance.
