发明名称 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
摘要 PURPOSE:To easily obtain the liquid crystal display device having a wide angle of field by laminating and disposing two sheets of uniaxial double refractive plates on at least either of between polarizing films and a liquid crystal layer in such a manner that the optical axes thereof intersect nearly orthogonally with each other. CONSTITUTION:A pair of the polarizing films 7A, 7B are disposed on both surfaces of a liquid crystal cell. The axes of polarization are disposed that light is shut off in the part impressed with a voltage in the same manner as in the case of the liquid crystal display element of an ordinary positive type display. Two sheets of the uniaxial double refractive plates 8A, 8B are disposed between the polarizing film 7A and the liquid crystal cell in such a manner that the optical axes thereof intersect nearly orthogonally with each other. While the intersection angle of the oriented films in the orientation control direction is so set as to usually attain 90 deg., this angle may be twisted to about 60 to 120 deg. at need and even if the intersection angle of the orientation control direction may be set at 90 deg., the twist of the liquid crystal molecules may be set not at 90 deg. but at 270 deg. and 450 deg.. The liquid crystal display device having the wide angle of field is easily obtd. in this way.
