PURPOSE: To provide a superconducting magnet for generating a strong magnetic field by orienting the crystalline surface of a high Tc superconductor along the direction of transmitting a large current. CONSTITUTION: This device has a winding which is formed so that a magnetic field generated by a current in the winding is parallel to the crystalline surface for transmitting a superconducting current in the materials. A solenoid 12 compries a plurality of windings. It is illustrated by a vertical line 14 expressing a current conducting surface inside a high Tc superconductor. The magnetic field H generated by a current I inside a superconducting winding is parallel to the aix A of the solenoid and more strongly concentrated inside a hollow core. A current is given by a current source 17 of not more than one. The figure illustrates only two of the Cu-O superconducting current conduction surfaces 14 of the high Tc superconducting body. The Cu-O surfaces 14 are circumferentially disposed nearly in parallel to each other. The superconducting current I flows through the surfaces 14 in the circumferential direction. The current generates the magnetic field H parallel to the current conducting surface and a critical current can be sufficiently increased, so that a high magnetic field may be generated. |
