A mounting (I) particularly but not exclusively suitable for the moment-free suspension of plates e.g. of glass (P) comprising a ball member (10) and a socket member (12) joined to permit spherical pivoting motion, the socket member (12) being securable through a bore (19) in the plate (P) with the point of pivot (X) generally in the median plane of the plate, and the ball member (10) having a ball portion (11) rigid with astem portion (13) which is connectable to a support structure. Also, large area glass walls constructed using such mountings.
