PURPOSE:To output a straight line partially erased after correcting it automatically by discriminating a line pattern picture such as a ruled line including a handwritten one from a character picture in an original picture, and afterwards, correcting the break of a line graphics. CONSTITUTION:The original is read optically by an original reading means 10, and the contour line of the set of black picture elements in which picture data is connected is traced by a contour line tracing means 11, and the decision of either the character picture or the line graphics picture is executed according to the size of the contour line by a picture deciding means 12. Next, the line graphics picture is extracted and turned into a vector according to picture deciding data by a vectoring means 13, and a graphic element is recognized from vectored data by a graphics recognizing means 14. If distance between the end point of some graphic element and another graphic element stands within a prescribed threshold value, the graphic element is corrected by a graphic correcting means 15 so that these graphic elements are connected to each other by extending the end point of the graphic element. The corrected graphic element is image-formed on transcription paper through a graphic generating means 16 and an outputting means, and is outputted. |
