PURPOSE:To easily and correctly change the controlling conditions in accordance with the kind of ink by separating an ink cartridge into an ink cassette part for storing ink and an adapter for transmission of information, and making the adapter part reusable. CONSTITUTION:An ink cartridge 4 is comprised of an ink cassette 25 as an ink storing member to store ink to be used for recording, and an adapter 26 detachable from the ink cassette 25. An ink bag 27 is housed in the ink cassette 25. Moreover, an ink absorbing body 28 is accommodated in the ink cassette 25 to absorb and store the waste ink resulting from the blind discharge during te recovery operation. The facing of ink cassette 25 is generally manufactured through molding of plastic, the size of which is agreed to the shape of an ink cassette storing part 26A. A data medium 32 mounted in front of the adapter 26 is provided with a ROM for electrically or electronically storing data, an electrically erasable ROM, a resistance, a capacitor, a battery, a battery backup RAM, a logical circuit, etc. |
