摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an introcular lens which is capable of lowering permeability of ultraviolet rays harmful to organisms while holding excellent permeability of visible light and capable of being safely utilized in the organisms by implanting an ion with an ion implantation method into the intraocular lens which is formed of polymeric material transparent for visible light. CONSTITUTION:PMMA resin is utilized especially preferably as the polymeric material of an artificial crystalline lens. All ions excepting an element having concern about toxicity for organisms can be utilized as the ions implanted into the surface layer of the artificial crystalline lens. Expecially the respective ions of H2, C, N2, O2, He, Ne, Ar, Kr and Xe are preferably utilized. These may be independently implanted and a plurality of kinds of ions may be implanted. The surface layer of the artificial crystalline lens with ions implanted thereinto incorporates bonding of carbonaceous substance while keeping the polymeric material formed of a base material as a substrate and absorption in an ultraviolet region is enhanced.
