HIGHLY HYGROSCOPIC FIBER HAVING CORE-SHEATH STRUCTURE

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber having excellent hygroscopicity, moisture- permeability, waterproofing property and durability and giving a feeling similar to natural fiber by using a core fiber composed of superfine powder of animal protein fiber and a polymer of a chemical fiber material and covering the core fiber with a sheath consisting of a polymer of a chemical fiber material. CONSTITUTION:For example, superfine powder of oxhide 2 preparatorily dried to a water-content of 5-1,000ppm is kneaded to a polyurethane resin fiber 1 and the obtained fiber is used as the core part A. The core A is covered with a sheath B composed of a polyurethane resin fiber 1 containing superfine powder of a water-soluble substance kneaded into the fiber. The objective fiber produced by the above process has through holes 3 and slit-formed through holes 4 formed by the circumferential tension caused by the cure shrinkage of the sheath B.
