<p>The method involves heating silicon containing metallic and non-metallic impurities to a completely molten state, and pouring the molten silicon into a mold (3) that is made of non-electrically conductive ceramic material. The silicon is gradually solidified in vicinity of strong magnetic field directions (5, 10, 11), where strong magnetic field is generated by strong permanent bar magnets made of neodymium. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for purifying impure silicon, comprising a permanent magnet.</p> |
