PURPOSE:To provide a fast Huffman decoder suitable for various applications. CONSTITUTION:Memory 30 connected to the cell of a bit shifter 24 which receives a Huffman encode data unit works as a wide look-up table in wide table architecture, and plural tokens and control bits are generated simultaneously. The bit shifter shifts data by the number of bits designated by the control bit, and prepares for the next decode operation. Thereby, >=1 code words can be decoded in one cycle on the average. |
