The tool has a straight bar (1) with a graduated scale (2). The bar is one metre long and has a rectangular cross section. Attached to the bar at one end is a transverse circular cutting blade (3). The blade is surrounded on two sides by a protective cap (4) and has a handle (5). A collar (6) around the bar has a parallel guide (9), with a face at right angles to the bar. The collar is slid along the bar until the required measurement is in line with the guide face. The collar is then clamped into place with a set screw (7). The user then runs the guide face along the outer edge of the sheet of plasterboard, while pressing down on the blade handle (5). The blade cuts through the outer skin of the plasterboard. The board is then turned over and the other skin is cut through. A light bending action then snaps the board along the required line.
