PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of a cell, increase output density, and improve power generation efficiency by using a fuel obtained by steam-reforming hydrocarbon, and recycling the fuel for use in a solid electrolyte fuel cell consisting of cross type cells. CONSTITUTION:The cross angle between a fuel flow and an air flow of a cell at the power generation section is set to 60-90 deg.. Fuel is recycled for use. Recycled gas is mixed with the hydrocarbon of a raw material, e.g. desulfurized city gas, then the mixture is steam-reformed by an adiabatic reactor. Fuel is CO-denatured, dehydrated, decarbonated after reformation then fed. The fuel utilization factor each time is set to 10-20%. The steam/carbon ratio at the inlet of the power generation section is set to 1.0-2.0. The current density distribution at the power generation section is unified, the output density per unit area is increased, the futility of fuel is eliminated, and power generation efficiency is improved. |
