PURPOSE:To improve battery performance and sharply reduce the production cost by filling the powder holding an electrolyte between electrode plates with the same polarity, and providing porous thin separators with the cushioning property between positive and negative electrode plates. CONSTITUTION:Silica powder having a high absorbing capability of sulfuric acid serving as an electrolyte and the primary grain size 10-40mmum is filled as an electrolyte holder between electrode plates with the same polarity among positive electrode plates 1, 1' and negative electrode plates 2, 2' made of a Pb-Ca alloy lattice. Corrugated acid-resistant thin plastic plates are provided as separators 4 between the positive and negative electrode plates 1, 1' and 2, 2'. The separators 4 and electrode plate surfaces are invariably closely stuck to each other, and battery reaction smoothly proceeds. The electrolyte quantity can be increased without increasing the interval between both electrode plates, battery performance is sharply improved, and the battery production cost can be sharply reduced by using the inexpensive electrolyte holder. |
