SOLUTION: An H cursor 121 moves to a horizontal direction and the defective picture element is arranged to position in the center of the H cursor 121. Then, the H cursor 121 is deleted and a V cursor in a form obtained by rotating the H cursor 121 by 90 degrees is displayed. The V cursor moves in a vertical direction and the defective picture element is arranged to position in the center of the V cursor. Thus, the position of the defective picture element is designated.
