SOLUTION: Whether the operational stability point exists or not, is checked on the basis of whether the engine output torque Te in 17 is agreed with the absorption torque of a torque converter in 16, or not in 18. When the operational stability point is detected, the engine fuel consumption rate is retrieved by a map in 22, on the basis of the combination of the throttle opening TVO and the engine speed Ne to realize the transmission input shaft motive power (target driving force) determined in 21, the data are rearranged in order of better engine consumption rate per output, of every transmission input shaft motive power in 24, the combination of the engine output torque and the engine speed to be input to the transmission, of the best fuel consumption rate, is determined relating to the input shaft motive power corresponding to the target driving force in 25, and the throttle opening is electronically controlled to realize the same, simultaneously with the control of the non-stage transmission.</p>
