Humeral head prosthesis

The prosthesis, comprising a medullary shank, a humeral head and an intermediate metaphysic component, has a mechanism with a tenon (24) and two meshing racks for varying the relative positions of the head and shank. The tenon is located on the end of the metaphysic component and is designed to be fixed in a variable position in a socket (33) in the head extending in the anterior-posterior plane and fixed in place by screws (35,36) with conical tips. The toothed racks are fitted to the head and metaphysic component, extend in the same direction as the socket and engage to fix the tenon in a predetermined position in the socket.
