In the case of a working appliance which can be handled manually, having an elongate drive unit which has in an end region a drive shaft protruding laterally out of the drive unit, particularly good handling properties and a flexible range of applications are achieved by an extension unit being arranged on the drive unit, by the extension unit having at its front end region a device for receiving a working tool, and by the extension unit having a power transmission device for transmitting the rotation of the drive shaft to the device for receiving a working tool.
