FIELD: infection diseases. SUBSTANCE: before starting treatment, blood of toxic diphtheria patient is examined to evaluate level of lipid hydroperoxides in plasma and catalase in serum. In case of lipid hydroperoxides level from 0.4 to 3.1 units and simultaneous activity of serum catalase from 90.4 to 153.0 mcat/l, prognosis for treatment involving emoxipin administration is considered favorable.
