PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet type recording head which is appropriate to control discharge of ink. SOLUTION: This ink-jet type recording head has a piezoelectric thin film element as a driving source for discharging ink to be filled in a pressure chamber. A piezoelectric film constituting the piezoelectric thin film element is formed in a double structure of an upper layer and a lower layer. A shift characteristic curve 501 to a voltage of the lower layer increases monotonously in a range of a driving voltage of -VQ<=V<=0 and a shift characteristic curve 502 to a voltage of the upper layer decreases monotonously in the range of the driving voltage of -VQ<=V<=0. A shift characteristic curve to a voltage of the piezoelectric film is a combined one of both curves, having an extreme point in the range of -VQ<=V<=0 as shown by 503. Therefore, when a voltage is impressed in the range of -VQ<=V<=0, the piezoelectric thin film element shifts once in a direction to reduce the pressure chamber and then shifts in a direction to pressure the chamber. A so-called 'draw strike' ejection control is thus realized in a simple driving waveform of, e.g. a trapezoidal wave.
