PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clean and deodorize a drain strainer of a kitchen in an easy and sure manner and to prevent the generation of a poisonous gas by incorporating various microorganisms having ability to produce amylolytic enzymes, proteolytic enzymes, animal and vegetable oil and fat degrading enzymes and cellulolytic enzymes in an appropriate ratio. SOLUTION: A cleaning and deodorizing agent is poured along the edge part 3 of a strainer 1 fixed in the drain port cup 2a of a sink 2 and the agent is allowed to flow down along the inside of the meshy part 1a of the strainer 1. After the lapse of 2-3 min, about 200 ml water is poured from the edge part 3 of the strainer 1 so that the cleaning and deodorizing agent is spread on the entire strainer 1. Microorganisms in the agent sticking to the strainer 1 degrade and digest food residue sticking to the strainer 1 and materials causing slime up to water, carbon dioxide and ammonia, ingest nutrients from org. substances and propagate vigorously with the nutrients as an energy source.
