PURPOSE: Provided is novel species, KO 717 of genus Bacillus which removes a foul odor of excretion and controls lepidopteran. Microorganism preparation for treating human or livestock excreta, and biological insecticides which contain KO717 of genus Bacillus, are also provided. CONSTITUTION: Provided is a novel microbial strain, KO 717 of genus Bacillus isolated from leaf mold and soil. KO 717 is viable at more than 95°C and paralyzes lepidopteran, but not harmful to vertebrate and carnivorous insects. KO 717 is deposited in Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology(KCTC 8980P)
