PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the outside diameter of a pipe body or a bar body in traveling at multiple measuring points on the same circle. SOLUTION: An object M to be measured such as a pipe body and a bar body and a bed 10 of a measuring device are synchronously moved, and then the outside diameter of the object M by two pairs of laser transmitters 31a, 32a, and laser receivers 31b, 32b attached to a rotary ring 21. After measuring, the rotary ring 21 is rotated by a set angle to measure the outside diameter of the member M at different measuring points. The outside diameter of the object M is measured at multiple measuring points on the same circle by repeating the rotation of the ring 21 and the measurement of the outside diameter of the object M, and then the maximum diameter, the minimum diameter, the average diameter and the roundness the determined.
