PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer in which calibration can be performed at an appropriate timing without altering the conventional communication architecture in the video interface between a controller and an engine. SOLUTION: In a printer for printing according to a print job, a status being issued from an engine in response to a command delivered from a controller is provided with an engine request bit for transmitting a request from the engine to the controller, and the controller issues a request execution command based on the content thereof. The engine notifies the controller that conditions for executing calibration are satisfied using the engine request bit and the controller designates execution of calibration, and the like, based on the notification. |
