<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control transfer to a proper power saving condition with a response time to printing demand taken into consideration, in accordance with the presence of printing demand, when forming an image in response to an image forming demand (printing demand). <P>SOLUTION: A "quasi-power-saving mode" is set in such a process that, after start of energization, the set heating temperature of a fixing device is set at fixing-time setting temperature T1 and a polygon motor is driven at a normal revolution and subsequently, in the continuation of a condition of no printing demand for a prescribed time t1, the set heating temperature is set at T2 and the polygon motor revolution is stopped. The set temperature T2 at the quasi-power-saving time is set so that a temperature rise time from T2 to T1 of the fixing device is equal to the starting time of the polygon motor. Further, if the condition of no printing demand continues for a prescribed time t2 in the "quasi-power-saving mode", the set heating temperature is made T3 (<T2) with the polygon motor revolution kept stopped, which is a "regular power-saving mode". In the case where the "regular power saving mode" is returned to the "printing mode", the polygon motor is made to start at the point when the temperature reaches T2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
