<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a melanin concentrating hormone receptor protein and to provide a gene encoding the protein and uses thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A cDNA encoding the human melanin concentrating hormone receptor protein is isolated. Binding experiments using the protein can be made by providing the melanin concentrating hormone receptor which is the new protein.
