PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material excellent in image preservability and high speed recording aptitude and having high whiteness, and not causing a non-pref. phenomenon such as whitening by adding a developable compound containing a terphenyl compound represented by a specific structural formula to a thermal color forming layer. CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording material has a sheet like support and the thermal color forming layer formed to at least one surface of the sheet-like support and containing a substantially colorless dye precursor and a developer reacting with the dye precursor under heating to form a color and the developer contains at least one kind of a terphenyl compound represented by general formula (I) (wherein l and n are respectively independently an integer of 0 or 1, and m is an integer of 0 - 2 and the sum total of l, n and m is 2 or less). |
