PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of cleaning an ink supply passage wherein a time period necessary for the cleaning work is reduced and the cleaning operation is efficiently executed by less cleaning liquid. SOLUTION: In the case where the cleaning operation for the ink supply passage is carried out, an ink-discharging sequence wherein ink stored in the ink supply passage 10 and a sub-tank 7 is discharged toward an ink cartridge 9 loaded to a cartridge holder or a waste liquid cartridge provided instead of the ink cartridge is executed. Next, a cleaning liquid cartridge containing the cleaning liquid is loaded to the cartridge holder and the cleaning liquid is introduced into the ink supply passage from the side of the cartridge holder to a recording head 6. The operation for discharging the cleaning liquid to a side of a capping means 11 by a negative pressure is repeated. |
