A dishwasher is provided to prevent backflow of contaminated water into a tub during a drain process of washing cycle by installing an air break having a check valve. A dishwasher comprises a cabinet, an air break(10), a siphon hole, and a ball-type check valve(300). The air break is mounted on one side of the cabinet. At least one siphon hole is formed on a drain passage of the air break. The check valve selectively shuts off the siphon hole. At least one guide rib guiding the check valve is formed near the siphon hole. The damage or friction is prevented by individually operating the check valve with pressure of water.
