PRODUCTION OF LOW-MOLECULAR WEIGHT CHONDROITIN SULFATE

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound in high yield without forming by- products by treating chondroitin sulfate with a chondroitinase at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:Chondroitin sulfate is treated with a chondroitinase [preferably obtained from a strain BH 100 (FERM P-10408) of the genus Bacillus] at 50-90 deg.C to afford the objective compound.
